Grammar knowledge is very important in English learning,but the position of grammar in English teaching has been controversial.Although China has carried out a lot of exploration and reform on the basis of relative foreign studies,there are still various problems in the grammar classroom due to the influence of various factors.For example,traditional teaching methods have always been exerted in grammar teaching,teachers are still the main controller of the classroom and students are passive learners.However,in China's English curriculum standards for ordinary senior high schools(experiment)(ministry of education,2017),it is advocated that teachers should change their teaching methods and create specific situations to enable students to use grammar flexibly.Under the guidance of “cooperative learning theory”,“group dynamics theory” and “social interdependence theory”,the present author conducted the research through the use of cooperative learning teaching method in grammar teaching:This study was carried out in Fugu high school with 108 students from two parallel classes in grade one.In grammar teaching,the cooperative learning method is used in the experimental class,while the traditional teaching method is still used in the control class.In the process of teaching experiment,questionnaire survey,test,and student interview were used for the research.Finally,all experimental data were collected,and comparative analysis was conducted to draw conclusions.By analyzing the data,it is found that compared with traditional teaching,cooperative learning is more beneficial for students to learn English grammar.On the one hand,it can motivate the enthusiasm of students,so that students are willing to take the initiative to invest time and experience to learn;On the other hand,in the process of group members' discussion,students' ability of cooperation and communication are also improved.At the same time,under the reasonable guidance,the experimental class students' English grammar performance has been improved.Therefore,cooperative learning is an effective and suitable teaching method for students.In the process of cooperative learning,teaching is no longer a teacher's preaching,but a process of students' exploration and discovery.In the process of mutual inspiration and mutual discussion,students' thinking will reach a new field.Therefore cooperative learning is beneficial to cultivate students' innovative spirit.Mutual dependence between groups will encourage students to study actively,which is conducive to developing students' problem-solving ability.
