Strategies For Simultaneous Interpreting From The Perspective Of Daniel Gile’s Effort Model

Simultaneous interpretation is one of interpretation forms which has been widely used and mentioned in recent years.It is a translation method that the interpreter translates the contents continuously to the audiences without interrupting the speaker’s speech.With the increasing communication of international community,and the increasing number of meetings,the needs for simultaneous interpretation have also increased.Therefore,simultaneous interpretation has become the most common interpretation service in society.Daniel Gile,the famous French professor on interpreting points out that interpreting,is a form of language resource management.It is also a resolving process of listening,interpreting and semantic memory.Interpreter should grasp the deep meaning of the source language.First,the interpreter should establish the logic of source language,and then follow with internalization and externalization,which are internalization into the brain and externalization of notes.Furthermore,on the basis of semantic understanding,the interpreter appends some ideas to make the translation perfect,and the whole progress mentioned above is the "Effort Model".Based on the actual experience,as well as the understanding of simultaneous interpretation,"Effort Model" will be taken as the starting point to do the research,with a large number of domestic and foreign researches on simultaneous interpretation and"Effort Model" for reference.At the same time,more experience for the further study will be provided.This paper will take a simulated interpretation as an example,and the research will focus on some aspects as follows:preparation before interpreting,comprehension of source language,organization and management of language,the output of target language,the relationship of speaker and audiences,and the role of interpreter and so on.Based on the above aspects,some strategies which can be used in the study of future will be given.This paper contains four parts,which is Task Description,Task Process,Case Study and Conclusion.The first part introduces the background and the character of task.The second part introduces the preparation and process of task.The third part analyses the application of the strategies with the Effort Model,in other words,how the Effort Model instruct this practice.The last part is to conclude and analyze the whole paper.With the use and research of strategies for simultaneous interpreting,some guidance to the problems which occur in the process of simultaneous interpreting will be provided,in order to promote future study,as well as improve the efficiency and quality of translation.
