Research On Net-work Euphemism Generative Mechanism Based On Memetic Theories

With the rapid development of the Internet industry,network life has become an important part of people's life,and communication and exchanges on the Internet make people gradually form a distinctive network language,which is attracting more and more linguists to focus on this academic research.In order to avoid conflict and embarrassment,or to achieve politeness,humor,humorous communication effect in the Internet communication,network euphemism comes into being.Network euphemism is a kind of distinctive language which uses the implicit expression to achieve a special communication effect.Memetics,from the New Darwinian Evolution,Meme is called the cultural DNA,which can explain the phenomenon of generation and replication of language.Meme is first introduced in "The Selfish Gene",which is written by Richard Dawkins,a famous evolutionary biologist.According to "Oxford English Dictionary",the definition of meme is that meme is the basic unit of culture,which is generated by non-genetic mode,especially by imitation." Network euphemism and meme are closely related to each other.As a new language variety,network euphemism is generated and copied in meme.This paper focuses on the study of network euphemism with memetic theory to explain the generation of network euphemism.Those researched languages are named as meme in memetics and network euphemism is the research language in this thesis,so the author names network euphemism as euphemism meme in this thesis.Firstly,all the collected data network euphemism are divided into groups according to memetic theory.Then,Contrastive methods are employed in analyzing the differences of Chinese and English network euphemism.The research is designed to find the potential differences between Chinese and English network euphemism so as to analyze the real reasons for the difference.It is discovered by studying and analyzing that network euphemism follows the four stages of generation and replication of meme,that is,assimilation,retention,expression and transmission.Network euphemism generates rapidly in memetics.Any strong network euphemism meme shows its longevity,fecundity and fidelity.Combining the study of network euphemism and memetics provides a new perspective on exploring the generation of network euphemism.Through memes,the language can generated and copied,and form the interactive mode between the people and the language,from which we can explore the change and development of generation of network euphemism.
