The core English accomplishment embodies intensively the educational values of English as well as the expectations of achievements for English learners.As for the core English accomplishment,it is requested that English learners can understand what others mean,express themselves and communicate with others successfully in writing or speaking according to their needs.So far,it has become a research focus in English education home and abroad to improve students' core English accomplishment.I have found in my own English teaching practices that dubbing original English movies makes it possible that students can make great progress in language knowledge,language competence,cultural consciousness and English thinking and so on.As for dubbing original English movies,which is one of the most common forms of teaching through English movies,has got much attention in English teaching in other countries.And in China,it has also got some attention and researches.In China,the researches on the core English accomplishment have been done mainly in theory,especially focusing on its connotation and constitution,ways in its cultivation and evaluation.By contrast,the researches on the core English accomplishment in practice are fewer comparatively.It is not intensively researched by English experts or teachers practically.As a result,the core English accomplishment hasn't been combined with English teaching practices to some extent.Meanwhile,the researches on teaching through English movies are almost application-oriented ones.And it can be found that the current researches about it remain university and college students and their speaking and listening or higher vocational college students and their speaking and listening as the main research subjects.It's less likely that Junior high school students and their speaking and listening can become the main research subject,and least likely for their core English accomplishment.Under this premise,I,based on the teaching practice of dubbing original English movies and different English learning levels of students,do a research on the relationship between dubbing original English movies and the core English accomplishment,in which the research subject is junior high school students and the research direction is the improvement of the core English accomplishment,thus,to help improve students' core English accomplishment.This thesis focuses on the three following questions.1.Individually,can students who get better grades in dubbing original English movies get better grades in listening and speaking and written tests?2.In groups,what kind of students who get better grades in dubbing original English movies can get better grades in listening and speaking and written tests?3.Does dubbing original English movies have an effect on improving junior high school students'cultural consciousness,thinking quality and learning competence?On the basis of relevant literature review and theoretical knowledge,I design and carry out an experiment as well as an interview in combination with a questionnaire survey.Forty students in Grade Eight from No.10 Middle School of Zibo take part in the experiment and the interview.They are divided averagely and randomly into two groups,then three layers for each group according to their performances last term.That is,the high-achieving ones,the average ones and the weaker ones.Last but not least,I make some quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of the results of the experiment and the interview respectively.This thesis comes to a conclusion.First,individually,students who get better grades in dubbing English movies can get better grades in listening and speaking and written tests.Their language competence is improved because the scientific and systematic dubbing guide plays a very important role in students' dubbing practices.And it helps improve students' performances in written tests more than in listening and speaking.Secondly,the average students and the weaker students who get better grades in dubbing English movies can get better grades in listening and speaking and written tests,especially in written tests.These students' language competence is improved more than the high-achieving ones'.Third,dubbing original English movies not only helps to improve students' language competence,but also improve their cultural consciousness,thinking quality and learning competence to a large extent.To sum up,dubbing original English movies can improve junior high school students' core English accomplishment effectively.In the end,some shortcomings are pointed out and some teaching suggestions are listed in this thesis.I hope this thesis can make its own contributions to the relevant research development and teaching practice in the future.
