The Lady of the Camellias owned a pivotal historical position in the history of opera and literature. Both the Marguerite Gautier under the words of Alexandre Dumas and the Violeta Valeri under the notes of Giuseppe Verdi have left unforgettable images for the world. In this thesis, the author studied the difference of the figures' image-shaping from the final section of four versions including the versions played at Royal Opera House,Covent Garden in 1994 and in 2009 respectively, and the one played at the Salzburger Musical Festival in 2005,and the one played at the Metropolitan Opera House in 2012(they can be divided into classical and modern versions).Through this way,the author explored the figures' image-shaping specifically to provide more theoretical support for singers and performers in shaping the figure image. The thesis consists of three parts. In the first part, summarized respectively. In the second part, the author explored designing ways of stage and performance from the four versions including classical(Royal Opera House,Covent Garden in 1994 and in 2009)and modern ones(the Salzburger Musical Festival in 2005 and the Metropolitan Opera House in 2012)to find out the specific ways for figures'image shaping. In the third part, the author showed its own thoughts based on the studying of different versions and its own practical experience.
