The image of the vase is a kind of decorative pattern on Chinese tombs,buddhist statues and grottoes.The image of the vase is generally the flowers and leaves of lotus and peony from the vase.At present,56 cases of archaeological materials have been collected and sorted out from the brick frescoes and vases in stone tombs of Song,Liao and Jin dynasties in north China,which are distributed in Henan,Shanxi,Hebei,Shandong,Shaanxi,Gansu provinces.Song,Liao and Jin burial vases in north China are characterized by their shape,size,color,ornamentation and lacing.The carrier is in the form of brick carving,stone carving and mural painting,which is combined with the decorative images of flower materials,flowerpots,flower frames,utensils and kettle doors.The vase images are distributed in different positions on the tomb wall,mainly on the two sides of the tomb door,the lower part of the water barrier plate of the lattice door,the waist of xumi seat and the niche.The images of the burial vases of Song,Liao and Jin reflect certain templates,powder books,production techniques and craftsmen.The vase images in Song Liao Jin’s tombs in north China show the function of decoration and aesthetics,and to some extent reflect the concept of burial of the common people.As one of the sacrificial forms of fragrant flowers,the vase image also has sacrificial function.From Wei,Jin to Song,Liao and Jin dynasties,the development of the vase images shows that the function of the vase images changed from religious to secular and popular.The image of tomb vase began with the introduction of Buddhism in Wei and Jin dynasties,and reappeared in tombs in Song dynasty.The second is the integration of different religious concepts,and the development of secular,funeral folk beliefs;Third,the development of furniture centered on high-foot tables and chairs;Fourth,the appearance and maturity of the tomb imitation wooden structure.
