Report On The Interpreting For IFAD China Project Annual Symposium

In January 2018,the expert team of International Fund for Agriculture Development China project annual symposium went to Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture to investigate the implementation of Hunan Agriculture Industry and Rural Upgrading Project(HARIIP)invested and constructed by IFAD.During this period,the author was responsible for the consecutive interpretation of the reporting and answering questions of the Chinese project leaders,as well as the escort interpretation service provided for the experts of the IFAD during the field visit of kiwifruit planting,camellia planting and drinking water storage system etc.in Luxi County and Fenghuang County.The interpretation involves the cultural customs and agricultural development of ethnic minorities in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture,as well as the listening comprehension of the non-English countries accents.The purposes of this report are:1.to combine Gile's Effort Model and Huang Zhonglian's Translation Variation Theory to solve the problems of accent English,the interpretation of cultural-loaded words and the interpretation of high-frequency numbers;2.to summarize the problems existed in the author's interpretation practice,and put forward suggestions to improve the quality of the author's interpretation;3.to better express and spread the culture of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture,enhance international cultural exchange and mutual understanding,and serve local economic construction.This practice report mainly uses case analysis method to analyze the texts transcribed from the recording in practice.It is found that: 1.Under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model,the author analyzed the mode of consecutive interpretation and the mode of interpretation comprehension.Through reasonably allocating energy and strengthening note-taking and short-term memory,the author can solve her interpreting problems of unclear logic,unidiomatic vocabulary collocation,inaccurate information and missing interpretation;2.The flexible means of addition,omission,compilation and description from the Translation Variation Theory can effectively solve the source text problems of Bangladesh accent,different cultural backgrounds and high-frequency numbers interpretation;3.The author also found that the theories and methods in this report can not solve the problems of Chinese dialects and emergencies encountered.Only by studying Chinese and foreign cultures and vocabulary,practicing interpreting skills,enhancing psychological quality andlanguage skills,can the author improve the quality of interpretation.The innovation of this practice report lies in the use of composite interpretation materials,which are more complex than single type materials and have higher requirements for interpretation.It is related to ethnic customs and agricultural development in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture.
