A Narrative Study Of WeChat Public Account Of SFK Art Education

In history,the students who were engaged in overseas study of fine arts,served as the ambassadors of cross-cultural communication,which could be a carrier of spreading the Chinese culture and symbols worldwide.Meanwhile,the homecoming of the overseas students made vital contribution to the construction and improvement of the art disciplines as well as promotion of the development in the domain of arts and crafts in China.For a period around 2010,the‘nation-wide fever’ to study abroad spawned the related emerging industry with professional services.With the rapid development of such industry,the communication of overseas study for art students has received increasing attention,as it is not only about the application for study abroad or overseas life guidance but also serves as an important platform for Sino-foreign art exchange and cooperation.The purpose of this research is to explore how to promote the communication of artistic overseas study to a new level.This thesis takes the "SFK Art Education" WeChat public account as the research object,and selects a total of 498 articles published within the period range from Jan.1,2018 to Mar.15,2019.By the main research methodology of content analysis,and combined the theory of narrative,the characteristics of the sample are analyzed.The specific research questions are(1)who is the narrative subject and what kind of media image is trying to convey?(2)What is the communication content?(3)By what narrative viewpoint to transmit message?(4)What’re the characteristics of the narrative symbols?This thesis takes the WeChat Public Account of‘SFK Art Education’as the research object,and selects a total of 498 articles published within the period range from Jan.1,2018 to Mar.15,2019.Mainly by the methodologies of content analysis,combining with narrative theory,the characteristics of the sample are analyzed.The specific research questions are(1)Who is the narrative subject and what kind of media image is tried to convey?(2)What is the communication content?(3)What kind of narrative perspective is used for information dissemination?(4)What are the characteristics of the narrative symbols?The research conclusions are that as professionals who provide guidance information for students to apply for artistic overseas study or overseas life,either tutors,outstanding graduates,on-campus journalists,or foreign professors,driven by passion for arts,based on remarkable aesthetic and artistic literacy,they are skillful at expressing thoughts with artistic methodologies by absorbing creative inspiration from all aspects of life.Dominated by the omniscience perspective,supplemented by the internal perspective,and embellished by the narrative perspective,the external perspective conveys information on applications for study art abroad,art related topics and guidance on overseas life.For the narrative symbols,the multimedia means such as text,pictures,forms,emoticons are comprehensively used for presentation to attract the attention of the readers.It is also found that there are still some deficiencies in the WeChat Public Account,which has impact on the expected communication effect.There are several factors leading to the low page view of the articles,such as under-display of artistic expertise of the narrators,shortage of articles in which the audience are interested,and the condescending narrative perspectives and unattractive of the narrative symbols.Based on the above analysis,this research puts forward targeted suggestions from four aspects:the enhancement of the narrator’s group image,the interestingness of the narrative content,the transformation of the narrative perspective,and the expressive power of the narrative symbols.The research is also extended to the perspectives of international communication,proposing recommendation for the narrative strategies of foreign-related social media.
