The demand for classroom interpreting sees a great increase with the rise of the number of Chinese college teachers who have difficulties in foreign languages but are eager to achieve doctorate degrees overseas so as to both improve their teaching skills and meet the degree requirements in universities. This,to some extent, promotes the rise of interpreting activities in the field of education in recent years and gives interpreters opportunities to put their language and interpreting skills into practice.Being a main form of interpreting, consecutive interpreting is usually applied in educational interpreting. As a student majoring in Master of Translation and Interpreting, working as a classroom interpreter abroad is a valuable experience. This report is based on my interpreting for Doctorate Program of Education at Our Lady of Fatima University in the Philippines from August 8th to August 22nd,2019,where I was mainly responsible for two courses:Philosophical&Theoretical Foundations and Comparative Education.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,I selected both failed and successful cases to analyze and reflect on my performance. The Interpretive Theory,a relatively mature theory and widely accepted among interpreters, was chosen as the theoretical basis of this report. The pivot of the Interpretive Theory is achieving sense equivalence between source language and target language. It divides interpreting process into three phases:comprehension,de-verbalization and re-expression,emphasizing the interpreters'ability of understanding the original language, breaking language shell and outputting the target language flexibly and naturally without losing the sense in source information. This report begins by giving a comprehensive description of the task, preparation work and post-task appraisal. Then,in the case analysis, the core part of the report, under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,it discusses the difficulties in unfamiliar accent and unknown words, problems of processing logical relations, missing interpretation and meaning ambiguity.Successful strategies applied during my interpreting are also analyzed, which are simplification, amplification and paraphrasing. Finally, conclusion is made and some tips of interpreting for training courses are concluded. It is hoped that the reflections on my interpreting experience in this report will contribute to the improvement of my interpreting skill and will help me remember clearly what I have learned during my two-year-postgraduate study.
