This thesis takes the Third Franco-Chinese Seminar of Family Development Policies as a case study,and discusses the impacts of improper note-taking in Chinese-French consecutive interpretation and the problems occurred in the author’s notes.The article uses Daniel Gile’s Effort Model of Consecutive Interpretation as the theoretical framework.According to Daniel Gile,an interpreter has a limited amount of total energy to be spent on interpretation.If one spends too much energy on the note-taking,it takes up the energy meant for speech analysis and memory.Therefore,note-taking should be simple and efficient.In addition,the author also quotes the academic research at home and abroad to explore the proper choice of language in note-taking in Chinese-French interpreting.By examining the result,the author found out three types of fault related to note-taking,namely: missing information,mistranslation and improper pauses.Subsequently,the three main problems in note-taking were discussed: insufficient use of abstract symbols,ambiguous meaning of abstract symbols and problematic choice of note-taking language.Finally,in response to the existing problems,the author puts forward the possible strategies of improving note-taking.
