The paper adopted testing,class-observating and deep-interviewing,in the process of English reading teaching,for the phenomenon of the relationship between language and culture,it took a whole semester to observe and study the intercultural awareness cultivation on English reading teaching in senior high school.What I did was to aim at resolving the problems of thinking highly on teaching language knowledge but paying less attention to culture teaching related to the reading materials.It is necessary for English teacher to help his/her students get rid of some obstacle in the process of English reading.What's more,it is expected to find out some valuable teaching methods on English reading.On the basis of the research findings of scholars at home and abroad,and the teaching experiences of mine working at senior high school in the past,after the summarizing of the current situation in senior high school on English reading teaching,putting some items in proper order,five suggestions were come into being to put forward for improvement.Namely: the curriculum resources,classroom teaching,extracurricular reading,teachers' quality and testing methods.It is expected that by studying on cross-cultural cultivating can provide reference for English teachers in the application of teaching methods and selection of teaching content,so as to better help students eliminate barriers on reading comprehension caused by facing cultural differences,and effectively improve students' reading ability.The findings of this study are as follows: in addition to the steady improvement of students' scores,their interest and initiative in English learning have been significantly improved while cross-cultural consciousness is tried to leadin-in in the implementation of reading teaching.In view of the limitations of experiment time and number of participants,the experimental results may not fully prove the effectiveness of intercultural consciousness cultivation.It is expected that better research results will be obtained with the further research in the future.
