A Study On The Language Features Of Zhang Henshui’s Novels

As a representative of modern popular literature,Zhang Henshui(hereinafter referred to as Zhang)’s creation is a masterpiece of Zhanghui style novel,and his novel language is unique.Since the 1980s,there have been endless researches on Zhang himself and his works.Scholars have made in-depth and detailed explorations of the plot narrative,characters,and cultural thoughts in Zhang’s novels.However,the research pays more attention to the characters and narratives of a single work,and less to the language features of the novel.In view of this,this article mainly studies the language features in Zhang’s novels,so as to make a more systematic review of the language style of Zhang’s novels,broaden the horizon of Zhang’s novel research,make up for the deficiencies of existing research,and enrich the academic research on the language style of Zhang’s novels.This article put Zhang ’s research into the historical background of the May Fourth New Literature development in the early 20th century.From the perspective of civic culture,this article selects Zhang’s main works in the 1920s and 1930s,"Chun Ming Wai Shi","Ti Xiao Yin Yuan","Jin Fen Shi Jia" and "Hu Ben Wan Sui",and"Wang Liang Shi Jie","Ba Shi Yi Meng" in the 1940s.At the same time,this paper conducts a corpus analysis and text research on the above novels,and analyzes the popularization features of Zhang’s novel in detail.Different from the literary popularization theory put forward by the"Left Alliance" writers.The popularization features of Zhang’s novels presented in this article are mainly expressed in the simplicity and civilianization of the novel.The simplicity of Zhang’s novel language includes distinctive features such as creating short sentences and using verbs.Civilization is mainly reflected in the selection of a large number of daily spoken words and dialect words in the novel.In the early work,a large amount of Beijing dialect vocabulary appeared.But in his later works,such as "Da Jiang Dong Qu","Wang Liang Shi Jie","Ba Shi Yi Meng","Ba Shan Ye Yu",the vocabulary of Beijing dialect is rare.In addition,the sub textual factors in Zhang’s novels,that is,the special look-back structure and poetry writing,are also a language feature.
