A Report On Chemical Interpretation For Mettler Toledo

In recent years,with the continuous development of science and technology,the exchanges and trade between domestic factories and laboratories and foreign advanced technologies are increasingly close,and the demand for interpreters in the chemical industry is increasing day by day.This interpretation practice report mainly describes the task of the interpreter accompanying the engineer of Mettler Toledo company to visit laboratories and debug equipment,summarizes the basic characteristics of specialty of chemical interpretation from three aspects including vocabulary,sentence pattern and tense.The difficulties encountered in the process of chemical interpretation are also described from three aspects: terminology,source language overload,and working environment and form.Based on the Interpretive theory,the report argues that the interpretation must go through three stages including comprehension,deverbalization and expression.The author selects representative cases in the practice of chemical interpretation,analyzes the process of interpreting output,puts forward the method of interpretation modification,and summarizes the feasible interpreting tips such as transliteration,addition,omission and conversion.The author also demonstrates the process of memorization assisted by mental imaging and interpretation notes through specific interpretation cases,and analyzes the errors involving numbers and tenses in interpretation,so as to explore ways to improve the fluency,efficiency and accuracy of interpretation output.In the end,the author proposes solutions to the problems of memory and oral errors,suggest that translators should work as coordinator,and advocates that professional colleges should pay attention to the cultivation of compound interpreting talents,so as to contribute to the development and improvement of the quality of chemical interpretation.
