With the increasingly intensive international exchanges, all walks of life in China are going abroad for the sake of a broader market. The internationalization in the power industry has also sped up in recent years. While many companies have invested in the electric power construction industry in foreign countries,it is particularly crucial to ensure the life safety of the staff and the normal operation of the power equipment in the construction process. The basic electrical safety requirements for the affiliated power production units and staff in the power workplace are specified in the "SDIC Electric Power Safety Regulations" published by SDIC Power Holdings Co.,Ltd.Therefore,it is urgent to complete the translation of the text of Electric Power Safety Regulations. The translator joined the translation team of the Electric Power Safety Regulations in August 2019.In the source text, which has a total of about 29,000 words, the translator is responsible for the translation of the technical measures that ensure safety, the operation of electrical equipment, the safety measures of power plants and substations during line operation, the hot-line work, the overhaul and maintenance of generators and high-voltage motors, etc.,with a total of 13,000 words.Based on the theory of functional equivalence and personal experience in translation practice, the translator analyzes the rules of power safety articles and summarizes the difficulties and inadequacies encountered in the process of translation.Guided by the theory of functional equivalence, the author describes the process of the translator to solve the major problems in translation, such as the lack of professional vocabulary and the non-conformity of the translation to the source language. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the research background and the status quo of translation of materials related to electric power. The second part explains the language features of the source text. The third part describes the translation process of the translator after receiving the translation task. The fourth part analyzes translation strategies from three aspects:vocabulary, sentence and text. The fifth part is about the translator's experience and summary of the translation practice.
