Research On Sacrificial Porcelain In Qing Dynasty

Sacrificial porcelain in Qing Dynasty,namely,the material culture embodied in Chinese traditional Confucian culture and ceramic culture.In terms of state sacrifice,governors of successive dynasties lay the spiritual foundation on Confucian thought,to decide social members with state sacrifice.This sacrificial activity embodies in altar vessel,of which were aimed for social stratification.Chinese ancient rulers pay close attention to the design,manufacture and usage of sacrificial vessels and set relevant strict rules.The essay will mainly discuss the design,usage of sacrificial porcelain in Qing dynasty,together with ritual and sacrificial culture behind it.This essay is divided into four chapters.The first chapter gives a brief sketch of altar porcelain,and place where it is used,sacrificial offerings and vestment to go with sacrificial porcelain.The second chapter mainly analyzes the development of sacrificial vessels in ancient China,it went through several kinds of material and finalized in porcelain.The third chapter,the main part of paper,elaborates the code of colors,forms,function and display of Qing sacrificial porcelain.The last chapter reveals the creative force and aesthetic idea of altar porcelain in Qing period,explore significance of sacrificial porcelain to the art and design creation of modern ceramic art from the perspective of shape,glaze,unit form and Confucian culture behind altar porcelain.
