The source text of the translation task is selected from the essays of the Opposite of Loneliness,a final work written by Marina Keegan who died in her twenty-two and that has caught enthusiastic media’s attention.Only one Chinese version of the book was published,of which the translator paid more attention to the transference of the content but less to the writing style. Therefore, first, the author of this thesis analyzes the poetics backgrounds of the source text and the version and the adaption of writing styles before starting his translation of the selected essays.Second, the author analyzes the text type of the source text, selects the text type for translation and translates the text based on the manipulation theory that imposes a less limitation on translating and emphasizes the writing style as the main manipulation factor;builds a model of the self-criticism of translation to control the quality of the version translated by the author.Third, the author gives examples of formal marks and non-formal marks on the basis of the stylistic marker system.Fourth, the author sums up the limitations of subjectivity and the relationship between antitranslatability and the translator’s style and concludes that the balance between adaption and acceptability should be kept and that the acceptability should assume a bigger role rather than the adaption in terms of the whole text.
