The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of learning reading skills in the flipped classroom. If this study can achieve positive results,it will play an enlightening and exemplary role in the guidance of teaching English reading skills. The research adopts action research of ten stages. The researcher identifies the students' problems with reading skills through the questionnaire survey. Then after the application of the flipped-classroom-based instruction in stage 5,the researcher based on the results makes the adjustments for stage 7 of the action research Quantitative data such as the questionnaires and scores from the pre-and post-tests and qualitative data such as the teacher's journals and the students' interviews are collected and analyzed to help confirm the research hypothesesThe results reveal that 28 students had a significant difference in their post reading test while 10 students had no significant difference in their post reading test All the 38 students improved their reading skills in answering questions and the result of the post-test is significant different to the pre-test.The data analyses have shown that flipped classroom had a significant effect on students who could accomplish the tasks given by the teacher before classTherefore the conclusion can be drawn that the flipped-classroom-based instruction works more effectively on the students who are efficient learners. For future research, the researcher will think about how to make underachievers benefit more from such a teaching model.
