The new round of curriculum reform has put forward a series of new requirements and challenges for high school English teaching.This round of curriculum attaches special importance to cultivating student's critical thinking,including the ability to comb,summarize and construct information,to analyze and infer information,and to evaluate and express various ideas.Critical thinking is the foundation of high school students' lifelong learning and development.To cultivate students' critical thinking becomes the main task of cultivating high-quality talents in the information age.English writing is not only an important language output skill,but also a cognitive and thinking construction process,which plays an important role in high school teaching.However,for a long time,the English writing teaching in senior high school rarely carries out in-depth thinking training,resulting in one-sided thinking and logical chaos of students' writing.The root of this is the lack of critical thinking cultivation into English writing teaching.Therefore,it is very important to integrate critical thinking into the writing course.Through research and analysis at home and abroad,the author finds that flipped classroom,as a new teaching model provides new ideas for the cultivation of critical thinking.Flipped classroom pays more attention to the active construction and self-organized learning of students' knowledge,which is conducive to the cultivation of students' critical thinking.However,researches on flipped classroom are still in the exploratory stage,and researches on flipped classroom teaching promoting the cultivation of critical thinking are mostly theoretical and targeted at college students.Therefore,this paper takes the critical thinking of high school students as the starting point,explores the influence of flipped classroom writing teaching on critical thinking of high school students,and specifically analyzes which dimension of critical thinking have been affected,which has significant reference for the cultivation of critical thinking and flipped classroom teaching model.Therefore,the researcher carried out three rounds of action research in practical teaching lasting for 13 weeks and applied flipped classroom writing teaching to senior high school,which aims to explore the influence of this mode on the cultivation of students' critical thinking.The subjects of this study were 38 freshmen from a middle school in Heyuan city,Guangdong province.The research tools used are questionnaire,analytic scale and interview.This study focuses on two questions:(1)which aspect of students' critical thinking disposition can be significantly improved in flipped classroom writing teaching?(2)Which critical thinking sub-skills of students can be significantly improved in flipped classroom writing teaching? How does flipped classroom writing teaching improve those sub-skills?SPSS 18.0 was used in this study to collect and analyze the relevant data.The main findings are as follows:(1)flipped classroom writing teaching can significantly improve students' critical thinking disposition,namely their analyticity,inquisitiveness,confidence,open-mindedness and truth-seeking;(2)flipped classroom writing teaching can cultivate students' critical thinking skills,and especially significantly improve students' self-regulation,evaluation,explanation,analysis and inference.This study has certain enlightenment on senior high school English writing teaching and the cultivation of students' critical thinking,and the author also puts forward some suggestions for future research.
