The Chinese and Japanese have many similarities in phonetics, lexicology and semantics. However, with the separate cultural developments in the two countries, the subtle nuances between Chinese and Japanese have become increasingly obvious. However,if the interpreter, under great stress during Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation due to time limit and language proficiency, ignores the nuances,it is likely for the interpreter to be confused by the similarities between the two languages. Thus, the interpreter may display negative transfer phenomena such as misunderstanding and improper expression, which affect the quality of the interpretation. Therefore, this article analyses the Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation of a mock conference, divides the negative transfer phenomena into three aspects to discusses the underlying reasons for negative transfer phenomena and suggests solutions including phonetics practice,Kanji vocabulary enhancement and amplification to avoid this phenomenon.
