In Chinese-Russian consecutive interpreting, due to the language differences between Chinese and Russian, interpreters tend to be influenced by multiple semantic and pragmatic factors of Chinese, resulting in negative interlinguistic transfer and errors that do not conform to Russian language rules of vocabulary, grammar, logic, culture and other aspects.Interpreting quality could be affected by negative transfer represented in improper use of words, grammar mistakes, unsuccessful logical structure and disarrangement of cultural.Starting from the definition of negative transfer, this paper discusses the particularity of negative transfer in Chinese-Russian consecutive interpreting caused by major interlingual differences between the two languages and its impact on interpreting process. The paper studies the case of Chinese-Russian interpreting of the simulation press conference for the First Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress and analyzes the vocabulary, grammar and pragmatic errors that occurred in the case due to negative transfer. In order to reduce the impact of negative transfer on Chinese-Russian consecutive interpreting, several strategies are proposed in the last part of this paper, including linguistic and cultural preparation, enhancing retelling practice and monitoring, improving interpreting technique by strengthening de-verbalization and optimizing note-taking skills.
