With the development of the social economy,a large number of surplus labors in the countryside pour into cities.Most parents leave their children behind in their hometowns.These left-behind students lack companion of the parents,whose problems in learning arise.This thesis chooses the left-behind students of senior one as the subjects of the study.This thesis aims to study the current situation of the left-behind students' English learning,and to find the relationship between family education and the English learning of the left-behind students and the ways to solve the problems,on the basis of the attribution theory,the monitor theory and the humanistic learning theory.Based on the study results of the questionnaire and the interview,the thesis puts forward some effective measures under the guidance of the relevant theories.First,the society should pay attention to the left-behind students and help them improve English.Second,the school should make a positive channel among teachers,students and their parents to decrease the negative influence of the lack of family education on English learning.Third,teachers should help left-behind students cultivate the correct learning attitude,the correct view of the academic achievements,and the right way of thinking on English learning.Finally,local governments should actively take measures to create job opportunities so that these parents may come back from metropolitan cities to work nearby.In this way,they will have more time to educate their children.The research includes five chapters: the first chapter of the thesis is the introduction,which introduces the background,the purpose,the significance,the structure of the thesis.The second chapter reviews the related literature.The third chapter is the research methodology,including the research questions,the research objects,the research tools and the research procedures.The fourth chapter is the result and the analysis of the study,including the reliability and the validity of thequestionnaire,the status of family education of left-behind students,the correlation between family education and English learning,the results of the interview and the discussions,and the measures which improve the left-behind students' English learning performance.The fifth chapter is the summary of the study,including the conclusions,the limitations,and the prospects of the research.
