| Three Pieces of Music with Dian’xi Folk Customs is a large-scale national orchestral suite composed by Mr.Guo Wenjing in 1993.It has a specific regional orientation-Yunnan,which is a national symphony that describes the humanistic mood of all ethnic groups in Yunnan.The works are divided into three movements: Awa Mountain,Jino Dance and Sacrifice-Torch-Liquor.The first two movements describe the unique musical style of the Wa and Jino ethnic groups in Yunnan Province.The third movement refines the life scenes of all ethnic groups in Yunnan Province,and praises the people living on this land in a musical way and their rudeness and prowess.In this article,the author chooses three angles: pitch structure,rhythm structure,and the conversion and application of musical instrument timbre to analyze the application of folk music materials in Dian’xi in Guo Wenjing’s creation,which indicated form three levels: the first level is to directly use the content of folk music in Western Yunnan,including pitch material,rhythm organization,and the other is to directly use the content of folk music in Dian’xi.The second level is the application of the conversion of folk music materials in Western Yunnan,which is mainly embodied in the rhythm structure and the timbre of musical instruments.In the third level,through specific pitch materials,rhythm structure and instrument timbre,we can deepen the expression of Dian’xi music in the composer’s mind.Three Pieces of Music with Dian’xi Folk Customs not only embodies Guo Wenjing’s inheritance and continuation of folk music material in Western Yunnan in his creation,but also gives new vitality to folkmusic in Dian’xi,which makes Dan`xi folk music materials developed once again in composers’ work. |
