Anton Webern (1883-1945) is one of the most outstanding composers in the 20th century and the head figure in "The Schoenberg School". His distinctive musical notion and rigorously concise in musical language has influenced a whole generation in last century and the emergence and development of many different music sets. Although his works are few, but obtain an extremely important position in multitudinous 20th century repertory.FIVE PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA Op.10 is an important work during Webern's transitional period from atonalism to serialism and pointillism, and as well the representative work of his "Aphoristic Style". As primary structural force in this composition, timbre-acoustics has a significant effect to the structure of whole work. This dissertation will mainly study the timbre-acoustics structure of FIVE PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA Op.10 from the angle of orchestration.The full text is divided into two parts. The first part is a summarization about the composer's life, different periods of his music composition, and the characteristics of FIVE PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA Op.10. The second part is a textual point, which mainly analyzes the instrumentation and resources of acoustics, the characteristics of timbre-acoustics-compounding under the principle of "tone-color separation" and its effect in vertical structure, the characteristics of timbre-acoustics-continuation with the function of "tone-color melody" in horizontal structure, and overall acoustical arrangement. At last, through above research, the author sums up the peculiarity of timbre-acoustics structure in Webern's FIVE PIECES FOR ORCHESTRA Op.10.
