There are many rewriting phenomena in Wang Zengqi's creation. In point of genre,it includes novels, prose, opera, etc. In terms of scope,it includes his early works and famous works of ancient and modern times,as well as folktales told in the streets. There are two main forms when it comes to rewriting his early works. The first type is changing the title or genre when he rewrote, and the other is rewriting with the same title, which including rewriting at the same time and at the different times. The original works of different times' rewriting were written in the 1940 s,rewritten and published in the 1980 s.Wang zengqi stepped into the literary arena in the early 1940 s when he was studying at the Southwest Associated University. The Chinese Department of Literature Institute of Southwest Associated University had laid a solid foundation for Wang Zengqi's literary creation by offering courses in the fields of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign literature, the faculty of erudite and informed, and the all-inclusive literary association. It was on such a platform with a high starting point that Wang Zengqi ushered in the high-yield period of his novels of the 1940 s and made outstanding achievements. In the process of writing novels,he had gradually formed a unique style of novels and a mature concept of short stories, which were systematically discussed in the Nature of Short Stories,a literary theory of Wang in the 1940 s.As he moved into the late 1970 s and early 1980 s,taking the opportunity of rewriting Mana,Wang Zengqi found his own advantages in novel creation in the new era by taking "old themes" as the exploration content and ushered in the high-yield period of his novels of the 1980 s.Compared with the 1940s' novel concept, the concept of novels in the 1980 s had been updated mainly in the aspects of the author's social responsibility and the simplification of language. But it had many connections and similarities with the 1940 s in the pursuit of rendering atmosphere, poetic language, implicit emotional expression and description of folk customs. In accordance with the origin and background of Wang Zengqi's novels in 1940 s,this thesis focused on Wang zengqi's rewriting of his 1940s' novels, including The Occupation,Carpenter Dai and Mana.In the comparative analysis,it can be found that the rewritten works are different in the plot, the novel content and the language skills with the original ones, but they all have consistent ideas in focusing on minority characters, paying attention to language function, attaching importance to folk customs, pursuing of novel atmosphere and an experiment in breaking the stylistic boundaries of novels, essays and poems, which are important factors of Wang's style.
