Teaching objective plays a guiding role in classroom teaching practice.It is the soul of teaching,dominating the whole process of teaching and directly determines the success or failure of teaching.With the continuous introduction of curriculum reform programs and curriculum standards,teaching objective has been placed in the first place as the primary link of teaching design.However,unreasonable application of teaching objective can lead to inefficient teaching or even fail teaching.The author conducted this research in order to know the current application status of teaching objective in senior high school.The main issues of this study are:1.What is teacher's cognition of teaching objective?2.What are the design methods and theoretical basis for senior high school teachers?3.How do teachers of senior high school implement and evaluate teaching objective?In order to study the above problems,the author conducted a related study through literature review,questionnaire and classroom observation.First,four senior high schools in the central city of GanZhou and Yudu were selected.There are 112 valid questionnaires filled out by English teachers of different grades.Then,30 English classes of different grades were randomly selected,and classroom observation was conductedthrough the classroom observation scale.Finally,conclusions and recommendations are drawn by statistical analysis of the data collected.Findings:1.From the aspect of cognition of teaching objective: Most teachers can realize the importance of teaching objective and think that it is necessary to design teaching objective in senior high school.However,some teachers have deviations in their understanding of the specific classroom teaching objective and lack of understanding of the stage objectives in the curriculum standards.They believe that it is not necessary to design specific teaching objectives for each class.2.From the aspect of design methods and theoretical basis: Through the investigation,the author found that few teachers can master the scientific principles and Strategies of teaching objective design.And,they know little about the basic theory of teaching objective.The design of teaching objective lacks scientific guidance.At the same time,some teachers still have unclear understanding of the behavior subject of teaching objective and lack of attention to the level of thinking of learners and so on.3.From the aspect of implementation and evaluation of teaching objective: most teachers can recognize the role of teaching objective in teaching process and evaluation.They teach according to teaching objective.However,there are many teachers often neglect the choice of action verbs in the process of implementing their objectives and fail to define the learning objectives for learners.The vague teaching objectives and the lackof learning objectives often leads to low teaching efficiency.At the same time,many teachers lack reflection and development of teaching objective in teaching.Based on the investigation,analysis and literature exploration on the application status of English teaching objective in Senior High Schools,this paper draws some enlightenments and suggestions related to teaching objective.The author hoped that it can help to improve the English teachers' teaching objective design ability and teaching efficiency.
