History can be used as a mirror to guide the development of the world. Therefore, the translation and research of historical materials play a vital role in the development of the country. However,Translation practice of historical text is relatively less, let alone papers about the translation of historical text based on narrative theory. In 2006,Mona Baker,a famous British translation scholar, combined firstly narrative theory with translation theory in her theory, introducing a new research perspective for translation studies. The theory includes four strategies: temporal and spatial framing, selective appropriation of textual material, framing by labelling and repositioning of participants. The author takes the book,World War ?,as the translation text. There are three main problems and challenges in the process of translation.Firstly,it is hard to overcome obstacles due to the differences of space, time, knowledge background and others in translation as the book written some decades ago.Secondly,it is difficult to undermine, emphasize or modify implicit narration of the original text for the differences between Chinese and English. Finally, how to accurately position the selection in register and reference objects in the source language. To solve above problems, the author mainly adopts three strategies of narrative theory respectively.Firstly, the author reconstructs the narrative by adding footnotes and cut-in notes to overcome the reading difficulties caused by different time and space. Then, selective appropriation in the text is realized in the patterns of addition and omission to suppress, undermine or explain some narration of the original text. And lastly, the author tries to close the relationship among authorship, translator and readers by repositioning the register of the deixis within the text. The author hopes to provide references for the study of historical texts from a new perspective based on Mona Baker's narrative theory. At the same time, the author expects to provide valuable reference for the research of historical documents in the future.
