| Nearly a half century separated,Xiao Hong and Chi Zijian, both born in Heilongjiang, standing on the beginning of the times, gathered their eyes on the bottom of society, and persistently wrote the sufferings of ordinary people.Using the comparative research between Xiao Hong and Chi Zijian as point pf penetration, taking the misery narration as the core of the study, and developing from the novels of both narrators, the author explores the similarities and differences in order to enrich and expand the research of misery narrative and explore aesthetic significance in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature. The full text is divided into four parts. The first part, the introduction, mainly defines the misery narration, combs the rhetoric of narrative in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature, and does research on the domestic and international status of Xiao Hong and Chi Zijian’s creation.By doing this, the author aims to make a comprehensive understanding of the misery narration and their creation. The second part mainly discusses the similarities of the misery narratives between Xiao Hong’s and Chi Zijian’s novels. On the narrative theme, the texts of the two novels describe the suffering of the flesh caused by disease and violence, and the suffering of the spirit stems from the fact that there is no "home" to return to "love" and not to be lonely;on the narrative way, both of them prefer the plate-like emotional narrative structure of "past" and "now" in the narrative of suffering. The third part discusses the differences of the misery narratives between Xiao Hong’s and Chi Zijian’s novels. The differences between the narratives in the two novels are more clearly expressed in the difference between the narrative perspective and the path of suffering and redemption.Xiao Hong prefers to narrate misery from the perspective of omniscience, however,Chi Zijian tends to use the perspective of limited knowledge to describe misery.Xiao Hong advocates facing misery, but Chi Zijian loves to dissolve misery in a soft approach. The fourth part mainly analyzes the similarities and differences between Xiao Hong’s and Chi Zijian’s misery narration from two different dimensions: personal experience and regional culture. The same experience of "losing love" makes the two writers more inclined to "hardship" in aesthetics. They start from their own experience of suffering and explore the physical and spiritual suffering of people. On the road of growth,Xiao Hong sought warmth in her life but failed.Chi Zijian soaked in the sweetness of family and love in nearly half a life. Therefore, the different feelings of cold and warmness determine the different ways of suffering and redemption in Xiao Hong’s and Chi Zijian’s novels;in the shamanic ritual, the madness and emotional spirit brought by the ritual of Tiao DaShen("jumping the gods")make the two writers chose the same narrative structure and time, however, the different nutrients that Xiao Hong and Chi Zijian drew from the Northeast regional culture resulted in the different ways of suffering and redemption. |
