The Trauma Writing In The Novel Killing Commendator

Haruki Murakami is one of the most prominent Japanese novelists.Since he published his first novel of Hear the Wind Sing,he catapulted to fame.He keeps writing a lot of books.After each novel was published,it caused a heated discussion.Meanwhile,Haruki Murakami turned into a global best-selling novelist,who was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature so many times.This thesis takes his novel of Killing commendatore as the object of the research,discussing sources of the traumatic experience,what kind of artistic techniques and narrative methods to express trauma,and the significance of traumatic writing,in this novel.This thesis has six parts,including the introduction,four chapters of the text,and the conclusion.The part of introduction is mainly divided into three aspects.Firstly,it introduces the source of the topic,including the life of the writer Haruki Murakami and the creation of that work(Killing commendatore),what is intention for choosing the Killing commendatore as the subject of the research.Secondly,it investigates theory of trauma in China and abroad,and how many investigations on Haruki Murakami's works in China and abroad.At last,the research ideas,contents,and outlines of this thesis are presented.The main-body(or text)part is divided into three chapters.The first chapter describes sources of the traumatic experience,the traumatic experience of Haruki Murakami as the only child in the family,and the influence of his intergenerational trauma as the second generation of the war on the creation of that of Killing commendatore.The second chapter describes the trauma manifestations in Killing commendatore,including the growth experience from the loss of the relatives,the emotional tragedy from the marriage and love,and the surviving witness from the lost life.Among them,the trauma of losing relatives includes that from the relationship between father and son,from the mother and daughter,and from the brothers and sisters.Meanwhile,the surviving witness of lost life is further refined into the contradiction between art and life and the hollow man lost in institutional alienation.The third chapter is the traumatic expression in Killing commendatore,including the multi-characters in the first person projection,the plot between reality and non-reality,the creation of multi-traumatic-narrative spaces and memory which is invasive,incomplete and fragment.The fourth chapter describes the method to heal and redempt the trauma in that novel.The first section tells how to face trauma,including consodering the expression from sufferers as the healing begining,and releasing the inner pressure of sufferers in art and language therapy.The second section describes the identity recognition,including re-building their relationships with others.This relationship describes how to re-undersrand themselves and other sufferers,who suffered an unfair treatment in the past.The third section describes how to awaken reminiscence of the past traumas.Once the past traumas appear,the suffers would face them and become so brave to totally destory them.The last section describes the respondence for traumas from suffers,who totally change them with a positive attitude and action,and finally achieve their healing.In conclusion part,Haruki Murakami's novel of Killing commendatore expresses that the trauma is not terrible;As long as there is love,the traumatic experience would be resolved into a unique experience,and can be cured and turned into the redemption.
