Haruki Murakami’s novels have obvious characteristics of trauma narrative. This paper, focusing on his five important works, tries to explore the author’s expression and narrative characteristics of the problem of trauma,to explore the purpose and significance of Haruki Murakami’s trauma narrative. In the introduction part,I put forward the core issues and significance of this paper based on the research status quo of Haruki Murakami at Japan and abroad, and expound the research method and innovation of this paper. In the first chapter,I analyze the two types of trauma writing in Haruki Murakami’s novels. The author mainly describes the trauma in family and the war environment. In the family environment, the blood relationship that maintains the family is replaced by utilitarianism and hatred, which is manifested in the mutual deviation of family members and the alienation of family relations.Through the environment of family, the author shows the influence of social thoughts on family ethical relations, the influence of improper education on talent cultivation, and the harm of religious paranoia on family and society. In the second chapter,I explain the characteristics of artistic performance of trauma writing in Haruki Murakami’s works, and briefly describe the artistic means and structural features of Haruki Murakami’s trauma writing. The author flexibly use the main narrative techniques of trauma narration, the transition of delay, flashback and narrative angle, which make each trauma event appear in a fragmented form in the text,as the result, the same event is endowed with different meanings in the eyes of different narrators.Haruki Murakami is good at using double-line structure and inserting other"small stories" in the main story to form "stories within stories" pattern, expanding the content and connotation of the text, forming multiple spaces and forming multiple dialogues in the story. The whole text is similar to the "heroic adventure" structure in single mythological model. There is a certain consistency between the adventure course of the hero and the road to recovery. In the third chapter,I analyze the value orientation of Haruki Murakami’s writing of trauma, and explain the author’s understanding of the nature of trauma and exploration of the road to recovery. From A Wild Sheep Chase to The Assassination of the Knight,Haruki Murakami has always been concerned about the problem of "violence",has his own solutions in different stages through the risk of hero. The first stage, the protagonist discovers the wound and seeks the historical truth. The second stage,he questions the injustice of fate.In the third stage, the male character realizes that violence has two sides and puts forward the idea of "violence with violence".In the fourth stage, the author let the protagonist try to take "balance" as the final "goodness" to resist the invasion of violence and heal the wounds. In the epilogue,I summarize the process of Haruki Murakami’s cognition and recovery of trauma.Firstly, the realistic directivity of Haruki Murakami’s description of trauma is to be explained, also the revealing source of trauma and the practical significance of coping plan.Secondly, the characteristics of Haruki Murakami’s trauma narration are summarized. His narrative of trauma emphasize the damage of trauma to spirit and psychology in individual, and social ethics and morality. Finally, the paper illustrates the value and significance of trauma narration in Haruki Murakami’s creation. |
