This report is based on the translation of the second and third chapter of US-China Strategic Competition: Towards a New Power Equilibrium. This book includes the writer's views and opinions on Sino-US strategic competitive relations. The writer believes that the strategic competition between China and the United States will eventually lead to a new balance of power.Since there are many differences in culture and linguistic structure between English and Chinese, sometimes literal translation cannot make target language readers obtain the same information as the original readers. How to make the translation achieve the effect of equivalent translation and how to reach the communication goals of the international communication text is the problem that the author must face and solve in this translation practice. After summarizing these problems, the author finds that the text should be understood and translated from three levels: vocabulary, voice and sentence structure. At the vocabulary level, the author adopts translation methods of addition, adding annotation and free translation. In the aspect of voice, the author changes the voice and adds the subject which is omitted. In the aspect of sentence structures, the author disconnects and recasts the translation according to principles of Chinese constituent order, and this makes the translation much more fluent and meet the Chinese habit. The author understands the peculiarities of the translation of international communication text after the translation practice. The anthor should take the acceptance level and the ability of the receivers into consideration.Only in this way the translation can reach the communication goals. The author hopes this report can provide significant reference for the translation of similar texts.
