| The poet Jiang Chenying(1628-1699),born in Cixi,Zhejiang,lived from the decline of the Ming dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty.He was good at calligraphy and history.Jiang Chenying inherited and developed Du Fu’s poems,having the same interest in Tang and Song poems.His annotations on Du Fu’s poems were found in the book Zhanyuan zhaji.With profound knowledge and outstanding literary achievement,Jiang Chenying got a place in literary history.This thesis studies Jiang Chenying’s reception of Du Fu,based on Jiang Chenying’s annotations on Du Fu’s poems,his literary criticism and poems.The preface summarizes the presnt state of the study of Jiang Chenying’s poetry and Jiang Chenying’s annotations on Du Fu’s poems.Jiang Chenying’s poems had caught scholars’ fascination and encouraged several works about the overall study,while his annotations on Du Fu’s poems were relatively uncultivated.Therefore,this thesis aims to facilitate the study of Jiang Chenying,highlighting Jiang Chenying’s remarkable talent in the reception of Du Fu.The first chapter briefly describes the background and academic atmosphere of Jiang Chenying’s reception of Du Fu.Jiang Chenying experienced the chaos of dynastic change and lived most of his life in the prosperity of Qing dynasty,which affected his reception of Du Fu.Jiang Chenying was also influenced by the academic atmosphere of eastern Zhejiang,he paid attention to the practical use of the knowledge.At the same time,he also made achievements in poetry,therefore,his annotations on Du Fu’s poems not only attached importance to literature,but also to the art of poetry.The second chapter studies the relationship among Jiang Chenying’s books of annotations on Du Fu’s poems.Dushi jian and Dushi shizhu had the same content but different names,the volume four of Zhanyuan zhaji was partly derived from Dushi jian.Jiang Chenying chose Qianzhu dushi as the original text,also consulted Zhu Heling’s Dugongbu shiji jizhu and other books.Jiang Chenying annotated Du Fu’s poems mainly by historical methods,emphasizing the mutual verification of poetry and history,besides,Wenxuan quotation was also used.Jiang Chenying mostly annotated allusions,and he regarded Du Fu’s book of poetry as a history book,paying attention to rhetoric art of poems.The third chapter analyzes Jiang Chenying’s reception of Du Fu in personality,artistic spirit and techniques.Jiang Chenying was influenced by Du Fu’s spirit of charity and mercy.He failed the imperial examinations many times,and his wandering official career prompted him to express sympathy for Du Fu.Jiang Chenying learned poems from different poets,mainly from Du Fu.He advocated that poems should express one’s true nature.Besides,Jiang Chenying thought poetry should reveal reality and be educational.He also repeatedly paraphrased Du Fu’s poems.His poems had correlations with his annotations on Du Fu’s poems.Jiang Chenying’s landscape painting poems adopted Du Fu’s poems,not only focusing on painting itself,some of them used exaggerated techniques.Jiang Chenying’s landscape painting poems were similar to Du Fu’s poems in spirit,not only because that they had the same aesthetic standards,but Jiang Chenying was influenced by the change of the style of painting in the early Qing dynasty.In the conclusion,this thesis points out where need to be improved in the following study on Jiang Chenying.At the end of the text,Jiang Chenying’s reviews of poems and proses with his annotations on Du Fu’s poems were compiled and appended. |
