Film Adaptation Of Xu Haofeng’s Martial Arts Novels

In recent years,whether in the literary field or in the film field,Xu Haofeng,who is called "the successor of the hard-style martial art",has drawn great attention to his swordsman novels and adapted films.The creation of Xu Haofeng’s martial arts novels and his adapted films not only continues the nationalization characteristics of the classic martial arts works,but also breaks through the over-stereotyped characterization and story frame of the traditional martial arts works.It has become a new force in the Chinese martial arts market that cannot be ignored.Xu Haofeng not only has a profound knowledge of writing and martial arts,but also has a creative mode of "integration of editing and directing",which enables him to retain the essence of his original works to the maximum extent when adapting his martial arts novels into films.It not only extends the literariness of the novel into the film,but also increases the humanistic implication and philosophical depth of the film.The study of Xu Haofeng’s kungfu novels and his adapted films can not only interpret the relationship between novels and films from a new academic perspective,it can also find out the problems in the process of the transformation of the martial arts novels with words as the medium and the martial arts films with images as the medium,which is helpful to the future novel creation and film adaptation.Therefore,this thesis will take Xu Haofeng’s martial arts novels and his adapted movies as the research object,and analyze them.This paper mainly contains three parts: Introduction,text and conclusion.The first part is the introduction,mainly summarizes the correlation between the Wuxia novel and the Wuxia Movie,combs the literature material related to Xu Haofeng’s Wuxia novel and its adaptation movie,explains the research method and the research significance of this thesis.The second part is the key to the this article,which is mainly discussed from five aspects: First,a brief account of Xu Haofeng’s life experience and creative situation,to understand the formation of Xu Haofeng’s knight-errant novels and adapted films complementary mode;second,take Xu Haofeng’s martial arts novels and the adaptations of the Sword Identity,the Arrow Arbitration and the Master,directed by the author himself,as typical examples of this paper analyzes the similarities and differences between Xu Haofeng’s martial arts novels and his adapted films,and probes into the characteristics of Xu Haofeng’s "hard-style martial arts aesthetics".In the end,deeply excavate the cultural inside story of Xu Haofeng’s knight-errant novels and his adapted films,and analyze the crisis of knight-errant inheritance.The third part is the conclusion,mainly analyzes the insufficiency in Xu Haofeng’s present creation,discusses his future transformation possibility.
