Workplaces of the future will undergo qualitative changes driven by fierce global competition, the introduction to disruptive technologies, pitched battle for talents and a greater focus on sustainability. Therefore, strategies and solutions of workplaces will also evolve. This practice report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the ISS 2020Vision: New Ways of Working(excerpt),translated by the author during the internship of ISS Facility Management Services(Shanghai)Co.,Ltd.This translation practice report composes of four chapters. The first chapter is a brief introduction to the translation project, with focus on the background, characteristics and significance of the translation project. The second chapter is the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation.As the highlight of the entire project, chapter three, using Skopos Theory as the guiding theory, discusses the translation problems via examples and offers reasonable approaches to translation by making a detailed elaboration on three aspects, textual features, lexical characteristics and syntactic structures. There are three characteristics of the text, namely formality, conciseness and objectivity. The detailed translation difficulties lie in how to accurately translate the professional terms and acronyms and how to properly translate typical sentence patterns, including attributive clauses, complex sentences and parallel structures. The fourth chapter is a summary of translation practice. In this chapter, the author summarizes translation strategies and techniques, hoping that the report can offer some referential value to concerned translators in the future.
