With the growing international influence of Chinese culinary culture,the C-E translation of Chinese culinary culture-loaded words has gradually shouldered the responsibility of disseminating Chinese culinary culture and promoting cross-cultural communication.This report chooses the culinary texts translated by the author as the research corpus,and the chosen texts are all from the Confucius Institute.The research object is Chinese culinary culture-loaded words.The selected texts mainly show the traditional Chinese culinary culture and reveal the close relationship among language,culture and translation.In order to deal with the translation work related to culture,we should pay attention to the essence and the connotation of national culture and carry out cross-cultural translation.From the perspective of Adaptation Theory,this report analyzes Chinese culinary culture mentioned in the chosen texts,and makes a comparison and analysis between the official translation and the author's,in order to obtain a translation that is more in line with Adaptation Theory.When translating Chinese culinary culture-loaded words,we should choose translation strategies and methods that will direct us to use proper language structure,as well as the expressions closest to the target readers' thinking mode or understanding ability to convey Chinese culinary culture.The reason why the translator can make a proper choice of the target text in the process of translation is that the target language and the source language share the same characteristics of variability,negotiability and adaptability.Based on different contexts and translation purposes,translators must make negotiable choices in variable possible translations to achieve the adaptability of translation,so as to eventually make the best choice.In the process of adaptation,the translator must adapt his translation activities and thinking operation to dynamic development of both the source language and the target language.
