| Listening is the most important skill in English,the main way to communicate,and one of the main ways to learn and absorb language.According to "Full-time Ordinary High School English Syllabus",four basic abilities should be cultivated in senior high school,namely,listening,speaking,reading,and writing.When examinations are designed and organized,students’ basic knowledge of English is not only examined,but also students’ ability to use English for communication is examined.The examination forms contain written and oral examination as well as listening test.At present,in College Entrance Examination,the part of listening comprehension also occupies a considerable proportion,so teachers gradually begin to attach great importance to develop students’ listening comprehension ability.However,in the process of listening training,many students are afraid of listening so that they cannot do better and cannot get more points.This research mainly attempts to solve the two following research questions:(1)What are the main problems existing in English listening of senior high school students?(2)How does the teacher use English listening teaching model based on schema theory to improve students’ English listening comprehension ability and listening achievements?In this research,108 students are selected as participants who are from two classes of grade one of Qing Zhen No.1 Middle School in Guizhou province.The students of two classes are divided into experimental class and controlled class.The experiment lasts 20 weeks.In pre-experiment,the pre-test is conducted in the two classes,which shows there is no significant difference in English listening average scores between the two classes by SPSS software.Meanwhile,students of the two classes are told to take in questionnaire one.After analysis,it finds that most students have many problems in English listening.From the second week to the twentieth week,the author attempts to use English listening teaching model based on schema theory to improve students’ English listening comprehension ability and English listening performance in the experimental class,while traditional English listening teaching modes are applied to the controlled class.At the end of the semester,the post-test is conducted in the two classes and a questionnaire two is conducted in the experimental class.Through a comparative analysis of the post-test with SPSS,it finds that the average score of the experimental class is higher than the controlled class.It shows that English listening teaching model based on schema theory has positive effects on English listening teaching in senior high school.The experiment result indicates that English listening teaching model based on schema theory can effectively improve students’ English listening comprehension ability and English listening achievements. |
