Objective: To explore the mediating role of children's self-supporting behavior in single parent families between parent-child relationship and school adaptation.To improve the school adaptation of them through the case sandplay therapy.Methods: In the first study,senior primary school students in some areas of Hunan Province were tested with the general information questionnaire for single-parental children.The Parent-child Intimacy Scale was revised by Zhang Jintao,the Self-supporting Behavior Scale for Children Aged 6-12 was compiled by Ling Hui and the School Adaptation Questionnaire was revised by Cui Na.2786 questionnaires were sent out,2681 questionnaires were recovered,and 2608 questionnaires were valid,with an effective recovery rate of 93.6%.Among them,237 were single-parent children and 2371 were full-family children.The second study was a case study,on the basis of the first study,to explore the effectiveness of individual sandplay therapy in improving their school adaptation by interfering with self-supporting behavior.Results:Study1:(1)The scores of parent-child relationship,self-supporting behavior and school adaptation of children in single parent families were significantly lower than those of children in complete families.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between parent-child relationship and school adaptation,parent-child relationship and self-supporting behavior,self-supporting behavior and school adaptation.(3)The parent-child relationship of single-parental children can positively predict school adaptation.The self-supporting behavior can positively predict school adaptation.(4)The self-supporting behavior of single-parental children played a mediating role in the parent-child relationship and the school adaptation.Study2: The self-supporting behavior and the school adaptation scores of single-parental children were improved after the individual sandplay therapy.Conclusion:(1)The school adaptation of children from single parent families are worse than that of children from complete families.(2)The better the parent-child relationship quality of single-parental children is,the better the school adaptation is.The higher the self-supporting behavior level is,the better the school adaptation is.(3)The quality of the parent-child relationship can be applied to the school adaptation through self-supporting behavior.(4)The individual sandplay therapy can effectively improve the self-supporting behavior of single-parental children and improve their school adaptation.
