| As the earliest mature form of drama in China,the drama in the Yuan dynasty is not only the representative of the literature of the Yuan dynasty,but also plays an important role in the long history of Chinese narrative literature.There are 162 dramas in the Yuan dynasty that have survived in their entirety,most of which are short works of four folds and one wedge.Their contents cover a wide range of aspects,from the politics of the imperial court to the life of the people in the city,which expresses these forms and feelings incisively and vividly.The rich literary value of the drama in the Yuan dynasty has attracted the attention of many scholars.In recent years,domestic academic circles have made fruitful achievements in the research fields of Yuan-drama,such as its theme,content,plot structure,language features and characters.In the 1980 s,there was a great interest in studying Chinese classical narrative literature with the help of western narrative theory,many Chinese scholars began to use narrative theory to study the dramatic art,including the research achievements about the narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.However,in the aspect of space-time narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty,the relevant researches are still scattered,mainly analyzing the time and space of a certain type of the drama in the Yuan dynasty,the separate time narrative or stage space of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.Time and space are the important parts of drama.On the basis of the narrative theory of Gerard Genette and the dramatic semiotics theory of Husband Phil,this paper summarizes and studies the space-time narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty by combining text analysis with the full understanding about the creative concept and narrative mode of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.The essay consists of five parts:The introduction introduces the history and current situation of the drama in the Yuan dynasty,and expounds the research methods,purposes and significance of this paper as well as the innovation of this paper.The first chapter describes the origin and narrative characteristics of the Space-time View of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.Vertically,it traces back to the traditional Chinese concept of time and space as well as the concept of time and space of Chinese narrative literature,in order to grasp a historical thread inherited from the space-time narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.Horizontally,in comparison with the western classical drama,the national characteristics of the drama in the Yuan dynasty in time and space narrative are extracted.The second chapter focuses on the time narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.This paper summarizes the time narrative of the drama text through three sections.The first section explores the choices of plots of the drama in the Yuan dynasty with the combination of various drama scripts,such as The Story of the Western Chamber,Miser and The Single Knife Club.The second section explores the techniques of playwrights in arranging plot conflicts in the drama.The third section excavates a unique predictive mechanism in the drama in the Yuan dynasty.The third chapter studies the space narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.The text of the drama in the Yuan dynasty is mainly composed of lyrics and spoken parts.Therefore,this chapter divides the space of drama text into two types,one is the plot space of the characters’ action in the drama,the other is the psychological space of the characters’ perspective in the drama.The first section mainly abstracts and analyzes the typical plot space of the court case drama and the love drama in the Yuan-drama.The second section is to analyze the female psychological space and the male psychological space from the lyrics content of the drama in the Yuan dynasty.The third verse is mainly about the conversion medium of these two different spatial forms,and draw the conclusion that space conversion and time extension in the Yuan-drama is inseparable.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the whole article.In view of the current development situation of film,television and drama,we should rethink and dig out the space-time narrative of the drama in the Yuan dynasty,which is worth learning at present.We hope that Chinese film and television art can pay more attention to the unique connotation of Chinese traditional culture and reproduce their own national charm and cultural self-confidence. |
