A Report On The Chinese Translation Of Share Sale And Purchase Framework Agreement

This translation report is based on the Chinese translation of Share Sale and Purchase Framework Agreement in the author's translation practice.The purpose of this report is to provide some experience and reference for the agreement translation in legal translation.The Chinese translation of Share Sale and Purchase Framework Agreement belongs to the category of legal translation.And legal translation requires that all information in the original text be expressed accurately so as to avoid legal disputes.Besides,legal language is a kind of static language for special target readers,and its translation should follow strict translation principles.The static equivalence requires that the target text be equivalent to the original text in the following aspects: outer meaning,inner meaning,linguistic structure,style and format.And the original intention should be reproduced to the greatest extent through translation.Accordingly,the static equivalence is applied to guide the translation task.In view of the analysis on linguistic characteristics in the original text,this report explores the specific translation solutions to Share Sale and Purchase Framework Agreement at lexical and syntactical levels under the guidance of the static equivalence.At the lexical level,there are three kinds of lexicons frequently used in this framework agreement,namely terminologies,archaic words and juxtaposition of synonyms or near-synonyms.In terms of their translation,the author follows the translation principle of accuracy and preciseness to achieve theequivalence in textual meaning through convention,paraphrasing and omission.As for the translation of long sentences,following the translation principle of professionalism and standardization,the author suggests three translation solutions,namely,sequential translation,reverse translation and synthesized translation to achieve the static equivalence between the original text and the target text.
