A Report On Translation Of The Kite Story-freddy And His Kite

People tend to get more access to English Children's literature both the translation version and the original version at early ages.It has become a big market for the publisher to issue these books.While,the poor translation has impeded the appreciation of beauty of the language and the understanding of the cultural differences.This dissertation is an English-Chinese translation report based on the English novel—The Kite Story-Freddy and His Kite.Under the guidance of conversion,synchronization and reversion,this translation report analyzes some typical examples.According to conversion,if some of these adjectives are translated into Chinese with their literal meaning,the vividness has lost.So the author converts these adjectives into verbs or adverbs.As for the translation of adverbial clauses of time,the author believes that not all of the adverbial clauses of time express a concept of time.Some of them deliver a kind of condition.Moreover,because of the different habits of expression between Chinese and English,adjusting sentence structures is an indispensable process.Under the guidance of synchronization and reversion,the author adjusts the sentence structures to make them accurate.Meanwhile,he tries to translate these adverbial clauses of time into Chinese sentences with conditions according to what concept they exactly deliver.Through this translation practice,the author comes to the following conclusions: conversion can be utilized to deal with lexical problems in the translation of children's literature,especially adjectives.Some adjectives in English should not necessarily be translated to be Chinese adjectives.They can also be converted into Chinese verbs and adverbs as long as they make the target sentences fluent.Synchronization and reversion are suitable guidance for syntactic problems,clauses included.Not only conversion but also synchronization and reversion should be utilized considering many aspects such as context,literary forms,and reader groups and so on.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 25...
