The importance of Chinese in the world has become increasingly prominent.More and more countries have made Chinese a compulsory or optional language for students,including Indonesia.Indonesian schools offer Chinese courses from kindergartens to universities.In Chinese learning,vocabulary,as one of the three major elements of language,is the foundation and the key point.The enrichment and accumulation of vocabulary is also one of the difficulties.Especially in Indonesian non-Chinese language environment,it is difficult for students to learn Chinese.At present,Indonesian students generally think that Chinese is a difficult language,and their interest in Chinese is limited.They find Chinese boring and difficult to learn.Therefore,the application of the Chinese teaching method which is scientific,effective and able to stimulate students’ interest in learning is very important.The popularity of game teaching method may have a considerable effect on students’ interest in Chinese.This is worth practicing,researching,and discussingQuizlet is an online web page that helps students learn vocabulary.The functions of Quizlet include vocabulary cards and games.Students can learn through games.This paper takes Jakarta Aglo Chinese School(ACS Jakarta)which uses Quizlet to teach Chinese in Jakarta,Indonesia,as sample.A total of 130 middle school students from seventh to eleventh grade were selected as an object of the research,to investigate the response of Indonesian Chinese learners to the game vocabulary learning method and their satisfaction with Quizlet and also test the effect of using the game pedagogy.This paper uses Microsoft Excel and SPSS to statistically analyze the results of the survey and finds that game vocabulary learning has a strong influence on students.Quizlet,as a game learning method,has a 58% impact on students’ vocabulary learning.Regarding Quizlet web page,all three teachers said that Quizlet did improve students’ Chinese proficiency,especially in the dictation section,but permanent memory of vocabulary was not satisfactory because students should remember vocabulary more quickly,but also forget it more quickly,even though using game learning. |
