Research On Chongqing University During The Republic Of China(1929-1945)

Chongqing University was the only one university of science and technology in the southwestern city of Chongqing during the Republic of China.After continuous development,this little-known local university has become a national key university.After the official establishment of Chongqing University in 1929,the main campus of Chongqing University was located in shapingba district of Chongqing,which is located in the west of Chongqing.It has always been the traffic throat of the important town in the west of Sichuan province.After the founding of Chongqing University,it experienced two periods of development:pre-war and wartime.After the preliminary development of preparatory courses and undergraduate courses before the war,the school has taken shape and achieved small achievements.After the outbreak of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression in 1937,the national government moved its capital to Chongqing,making it the wartime companion capital.China's higher education was destroyed strongly and suffered great disasters and losses during the Japanese aggressors' invasion of China.In order to preserve the lifeblood of national culture and persist in the war of resistance against Japan,the national government ordered a large number of cultural and educational institutions and factories and enterprises to transfer to the southwest rear area.For a time,Chongqing University is gathered,factory bristly,politics,economy,culture is unprecedented flourishing.This particular historical background,for Chongqing University ushered in the rapid development of historical opportunities.During the eight years of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression,chongqing university not only trained a large number of talents for the founding of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression,but also made great achievements in departments,school scale,management system,teaching and scientific research.This paper takes Chongqing University in the period of the Republic of China as the research object and the development course of Chongqing University as the clue,trying to sort out the historical track of its development and growth.On the basis of analyzing a large number of archives of the Republic of China,this paper tries to present the general situation,characteristics and management of chongqing university in different periods,as well as the difficulties and achievements it has faced.
