This article focuses on the new direction of public art in the practice of “Arts Involvement in Rural Areas” in Mainland China since the 21 st century, trying to gain insight into how contemporary art interacts with local communities in the context of the country’s rural context. From the "self-discipline" of modern art to the "intervention" of contemporary art,art is gradually moving toward the public. This tendency coincides with the "innovator movement to the countryside" that began in the 1930 s,leading to the now-emerging trend of "arts involvement in the countryside".In this paper, through the analysis of the three art intervention cases of the YangDeng Arts Cooperative, the Shijiezi Art Museum, and Kunshan’s Creation,we point out that the transition of the public art to “process”,“dialogue” and “critical” in the countryside, and Summarized the problems related to "the lack of publicity","the confusion of judging criteria" and the "complex relationship with the government" that appeared in practice, and gave corresponding countermeasures to provide reference for future practitioners.
