| As the globalization deepens continuously,people around the world are increasingly enjoying the benefits brought by the development of science and technology.As firm promoters of and active participants in the globalization,Chinese people always pay close attention to the latest news of the scientific and technological development around the world.Technology news trans-editing refers to trans-editing the technology news written in foreign languages into that written in native language,so as to help native readers know the latest technology news.This Report is based on the author's internship experience as a trans-editor.Since November,2017,the author has been engaged in the internship as a trans-editor on the Trans-editing Collaboration Platform of Huanqiu.com,mainly responsible for the transediting of technology news in the field of business information from English to Chinese.In this Report,the author mainly discusses the professional ethics of news trans-editors and the translation quality management mode of Huanqiu.com.When discussing the professional ethics of news trans-editors,the author introduces the job characteristics of the technology news trans-editor Internship of Huanqiu.com and the specific requirements of the news website.Additionally,the author also formulates a figure of producing trans-edited news.Through a discussion of the differences between news trans-editors and translators,the author concludes that: news trans-editors are not only translators,but also news editors.The author points out in the Report that,in the process of trans-editing,news trans-editors should comply with not only the professional ethics of translators,but also the codes and ethics of news workers.When discussing the translation quality management mode of Huanqiu.com,the author briefly introduces the rules of rewards and penalties of Huanqiu.com on the quality of trans-edited news,lists varieties of errors made by green hands in news transediting in the process of quality management.Based on the difference these errors exert on the meaning conveyed by the original English news,the author categorizes them as two types: errors in meaning and errors in form.Errors in meaning consist of logic errors,mistranslation,omission and excessive deletion,while errors in form include typographical errors,format errors,punctuation errors,unnatural expressions and other errors.To decrease these errors made in the process of quality management,the author gives his suggestions of different translation quality management methods from the level of both Huanqiu.com and trans-editors.Firstly,from the level of Huanqiu.com,the author suggests establishing a terminology database to decrease errors of terms and building a translation memory to improve work efficiency;to improve the sense of responsibility of trans-editors,the author proposes that a set of elimination mechanism should be established by Huanqiu.com.Secondly,from the level of trans-editors,the author advises green hands to summarize and restructure the information of the translated text after translating.The author also points out that,trans-editors should inspect the trans-edited news carefully and improve the quality of their translations through learning from the translations of other excellent trans-editors.This Report aims to provide suggestions for fresh hands,for the purpose of helping them better know their responsibilities and professional ethics,and appeals to them to raise their consciousness of responsibility and to place emphasis on improving the quality of their translations.In addition,on the specific issues existing in the translation quality management of Huanqiu.com,this Report also proposes to establish a terminology database and a translation memory,in the hope of helping managerial personnel of news websites like Huanqiu.com to improve their translation quality management. |
