Research On Foucault’s ‘Technology Of Self’

Recently,the research on Foucault has not been declining,more and more scholars are interested in Foucault’ theories.However,the value of Foucault’s theory about ‘Technology of Self’ has been seriously underestimated,even misinterpreted.History,mental illness,clinics,prisons and sexual history,Foucault’s research themes seem to have been changing,critical priorities seem to change over time,however the main line of thought has not changed,the theory ‘Technology of Self’ remains important.Foucault’s ‘Technology of Self’ theory is the core concept throughout the whole creative career of Foucault.This paper focuses on the exploration of Foucault’s ‘Technology of Self’.It is exposed the domination of ‘Technology of Self’ limits the development of human beings.In the discussion of the power of mental illness,madness,rationality,knowledge and truth,it attempts to expose the subject image as distinctly as possible,and explore the western capitalist living environment in which power,morality and knowledge are linked together.This paper mainly discusses the following questions: Why and how do modern people lose their subjectivity and be trapped in the trap of ‘Technology of Self’;how the ‘subject’ is constructed and formed.
