This study is based on the original interpretation,the thesis analysis and comparative analysis,explores the proposition of knowledge following morality and it's source of the ontology in the mind of Chang Tsai,and illustrates the difference between knowledge following morality and cognition of experience,and then by contrast with Cheng Yi's knowledge following sincerity,to highlights the characteristics and connotation of Chang Tsai's knowledge following morality.In the theory of Chang Tsai,Tai He or the Dao of heaven is the source of creation.The concrete expression is the ontology of Tai Xu working with Qi.The relationship of between Tai Xu and Qi is that Tai Xu is Qi.Tai Xu and Qi are the same,but Tai Xu is more fundamental.So the ultimate source of virtue is Tai He or Tai Xu.The Dao of heaven endows the nature of Heaven and Earth with human.The nature of Heaven and Earth is pure good,and this is the source of virtue.Real people get the nature of Heaven and Earth and physical nature.The evil of human nature is caused by physical nature,so we need changing personal nature to return to the nature of Heaven and Earth.Human heart is combination of human nature and the perception of the heart.Human heart has the ability to govern the human nature and emotions.The human emotions maybe turn into the inferior emotions,so this is where the human heart comes into play.In the theory of Chang Tsai,heaven,Tai xu,human nature and human heart are the same.The Dao of Tai He is both the roots of Chang Tsai's knowledge following morality and the content of his knowledge,and you can't get it through your senses.If you want to beyond the senses,you must get the knowledge following morality.In the theory of Chang Tsai,the knowledge following morality is intuitive knowledge and virtue of heaven or knowledge following sincerity.It transcends the cognition of experience,and it need to broaden your mind to be keenly aware of things,and achieve unity of inside and outside,unity of Heaven and man,after that,you will get the knowledge about nature and the Dao of heaven.On the other hand,the knowledge following morality is also a saint's mental state.Speaking from the heart level,the most important thing of to achieve the knowledge following morality is to broaden your mind and to be keenly aware of things,and to know of the people of the heart with an open mind to remove the private opinion.Speaking from the nature level,we need change the temperament,and know of the human's nature.And than following the heart and nature consciously to moral practice,but also respectfully respect the ceremony.The whole process is Mencius knowingly know the way.Cheng Yi and Chang Tsai have a similar statement on the question of knowledge,but Cheng Yi's knowledge of virtue and Chang Tsai's knowledge following sincerity are some different.Cheng's knowledge of virtue is the pursuit of the inward,and it seeks a sense of inner enlightenment by the way of interpreting issues of investigating things,and if you do that you will get the knowledge of heavenly principle.There are different explanations for the two similar concepts,because Chang and Cheng have a different understanding about Tai Xu and heavenly principles.Chang Tsai asserts that the primitive of the world is the Qi(gas),and advocates gas monism,but Cheng Yi asserts that the primitive of the world is rational,and advocates rationalism.At the same time in the theory of Zhang,heaven,nature,Tai Xu and heart are the same,but in Cheng Yi's theory,the heart is acquired experience,whil heaven,rational and nature are the same.So they have a different understanding about the methods of getting knowledge.Cheng Yi advocated the cultivation of the human heart with respect,and then relied on the way of interpreting issues of investigating things to get the knowledge of heavenly principle.Relatively speaking,Chang Tsai advocated people need realize the human heart,and then relied it to practice.
