As an image text,documentary’s inherent authenticity determines that it is closely related to city and city image.It is of great significance to study the relationship between documentary and Guangzhou city image in the New Era.This research combines documentary with communication of Guangzhou city image,taking the documentaries which is containing the Guangzhou elements as the research object,and selecting Pierce’s semiotics as the basis,mainly using text analysis to study Guangzhou city signs in the documentaries and the Guangzhou city image disseminated in the signs,which has certain innovation.The introduction first expounds the origin and significance of this research.Secondly it summarizes the domestic and foreign research status of documentary and city image,and defines the concepts of documentary and city image.Thirdly,it introduces the research objectives and research methods.Finally it explains the innovation and difficulty of this research.In the first chapter of the text,the author firstly classifies the documentaries which is containing Guangzhou elements,and summarizes the types of documentaries at the present stage.The author separately explores the disseminators,communication contents,communication channels and communication effects of these documentaries on this basis,and expounds internal relations between documentary and city image.In the second chapter of the text,from the perspective of Pierce’s semiotics,the author explores the signs of Guangzhou’s diet,history and culture,commerce,Africa and character in the documentaries,and also summarizes Guangzhou city images since the 21 st century,including "Eating in Guangzhou","Historical and Cultural City","Millennium Commercial City","Chocolate City ","City of Inspiration,Warmth and Tolerance" on the basis.Meanwhile,the author elaborates the meaning production and image construction in the documentaries from the angle of encoding and decoding,and makes a critical analysis of the selection and presentation of signs in documentaries.On the basis of the previous paper,the third chapter of the text believes that there are many problems in the process of disseminating the city images,such as the disseminators,communication contents,communication channels and communication effects.In the end,Constructive opinions such as setting up a specialized agency for communication of city image,strengthening collaboration among disseminators,making full use of new media platforms,and promoting deep integration of large-scale events and communication of city image were proposed from the perspective of mass communication mode.The conclusion part discusses the importance of documentary in disseminating city image,and summarizes the full text.Finally,the author puts forward personal reflections on documentary and communication of city image. |
