Research On Relevant Problems Of The Military And Literary Officials In Shaanxi In The Mid-Northern Song Dynasty

In the north Song dynasty,there were several civil officials,and there was a tradition of appointing civil officials to lead the army.After the Song-Xia war broke out,the civil officials gradually replaced the military officials to be in chief in the military system,and they become responsible for the management of the army,dealing with border defense and commanding the army operations.In this paper,the main object of study is the military officers in Shaanxi Province.The commanding army civil official is the research object in this paper.The official conditions and military behaviors of the commanding army civil official are discussed in detail,and the influence of commanding army civil official is understood furtherly.Since the establishment of the command system of civil official military in Renzong dynasty,it has become the key to the national defense security of the North Song dynasty that how to choose commanders.The court firstly selected officials with some relevant work experience.In addition,it is crucial to win the support of the emperor and the ministers in power.Many officials even sacrificed their own authority to make friends with officials and gain the trust of the emperor.As the highest highest level commander,the commanding army civil official has the only power arbitrarily transferred without reporting in the invasion of the enemy troops.However,different with the military officers,most of the commanding army civil official did not need to lead the army directly.Their military functions were more reflected in the planning of the army and the commanding of the war.As the frontier of the confrontation between Song and Xia dynasty,Shaanxi occupied an important strategic position in the northwest defense system of North Song dynasty.The change of the policy toward Xia in middle North Song was a complicated and long process,which experienced a long period of time for many commanding army civil official servants in shaanxi.After Shenzong ascended the throne,the policy of turning from harmony to extension to Xia was finally established.The civil official in Song believed that the ideal officials should have the ability of both civil and military,and the experience of the frontier could also help them get promoted back to the royal court.Therefore,as the capital of the commanding army civil officials in politics,which guided more and more civil officials to participate in military work in shaanxi.In the middle North Song dynasty,the commanding army civil officials not only played the role to carry out the state policy of civil leading military in the Song dynasty,but also shoulder the important responsibility of maintaining the stability of shaanxi region.
