On The Artistic Characteristics And Performance Of Poulenc’s Clarinet And Piano Sonata

This thesis is going to discuss about the op.184 of “Clarinet and Piano Sonata” which is the only Clarinet solo work produced in 1962 by Francis Poulenc who was the famous French composer and pianist in 20 th Century.Based on the theory analysis and the performance practice,we will make some analysis toward art characteristics and performance skills of the works.The thesis will divide into three chapters except introduction and conclusion.Chapter One: The introduction of Francis Poulenc “Clarinet and Piano Sonata” :Creative period,simple introduction of the author and the background of the author.Chapter Two: art characteristics of Francis Poulenc “Clarinet and Piano Sonata” like tonal scale,skills of chordChapter Three: the performing skills of Francis Poulenc “Clarinet and Piano Sonata” : mainly to study the skills like clarinet fingering,breathing,timbre and rhythm of the work.We will to study the difficulties in the work to find a solution for better performance.
