The teaching of elementary spoken Chinese aims to prepare learners with communicative skill in Chinese.Intensive practicing is the most effective way to reach such goal,while textbook exercises offers a good resource for speech training.Therefore,the efficacy of teaching largely depends on the quality the of textbook exercises.Although the arrangement of textbook exercised had been investigated by some researchers,the research of this issues is insufficient,thus constraining the development of spoken Chinese teaching.The current dissertation focuses on the exercises in the following textbook-Boya Elementary Spoken Chinese(third edition),employed the methods of literature review,quantitative analysis,questionnaire and interview,with reference to the theories in textbook compilation and appraisal.It offers an extensive assessment of exercises in this textbook and provides advices for further improvement.
