| Vocabulary is one of the basic and key elements of language,playing an important role in the language learning.It’s also the key to improve the ability of listening,speaking,reading and writing.With the development of the world and increasing requirements of the English skills,English vocabulary learning grows more important than ever.Due to lacking the appropriate educational theories and efficient teaching experiments and methods,many English teachers still choose the traditional methods,the students also learn the vocabulary traditionally.The traditional methods regard the teacher as the key,dull and boring,are difficult to attract students’ attention and motivate their interest,ignore the students’eficient participation and interaction,thus blow the students’ confidence.Many researches at home and abroad indicate that Cooperative Learning is one of the most effective learning theories.Cooperative Learning is acknowledged as one of the learning methods and advocated by the national curriculum reform,which is aiming at creating a better learning atmosphere.Through the cooperative learning,students become the center of the class,they learn the knowledge depending on themselves through the cooperation with others.The students at vocational school weak at the basic English,lack the learning interest,have the low confidence.The author will adopt Cooperative Learning to motivate students’ vocabulary learning interest and help them master the vocabulary better.The research aims to solve the following two problems:1.Does the application of Cooperative Learning in vocational school vocabulary teaching improve students’ achievements?What improvement?2.Does the application of Cooperative Learning in vocational school vocabulary teaching promote the vocabulary learning interest?The research was performed in two e-business classes in one Suzhou vocational school.Class 3 is the experimental class,adopting the Cooperative Learning teaching method;Class 2 is the control class,which was taught in traditional way.The research lasted for one term.The author used pretest,posttest,questionnaire and interview to analyze and learn about the effects of the Cooperative Learning with the help of SPSS.The results of the research are following:1.By analyzing the data of the pretest and posttest,the scores of the experimental class are higher than those of the control class.It indicates that the Cooperative Learning is beneficial to improve the vocational school students’ vocabulary learning and could improve the vocabulary scores.2.Through the analyze of the data from the questionnaires and of the results of the interviews with the students,we could find out the students hold the positive attitude,have more interest in the vocabulary learning.The combination of Cooperative Learning and vocabulary teaching needs a lot of deeper work.According to the results,there are three pedagogical implications for the English vocabulary teaching in the secondary vocational school.First,it is important to improve the English teaching approaches.Second,it is also worth mentioning to adjust the teaching objects.Third,improving the cooperative learning is also necessary. |
